Viva Blanks

A graveside service for Viva Jean Blanks, 85, of Chico, Texas, will be held at 10 am Monday, December 12, 2022, at Chico Cemetery. Pastor Ronnie Lawson will officiate.  Visitation will be 4-6pm Sunday, December 11, 2022, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport.  Viva went to her eternal resting place on December 5, 2022, in Chico, Texas.

She was born May 6, 1937, to Fred and Ruby (Byers) Pitts in Wise County. Viva married Charles David “Chuck” Blanks May 29, 1954, in Whitesboro, Texas, and later moved to Chico, Texas where the couple were long-time residents.

She loved children, working in childcare for more than 32 years. Viva’s favorite pastimes included reading, cooking, trips to the casino, shopping, traveling, and spending time with friends. She was also an avid basketball and volleyball player in her younger years. Viva was also a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Chico.

Survivors include sons David Ray Blanks and wife, Theresa, of Peoria, Arizona, and Douglas Dee Blanks and wife, DeAnn, of Richland Hills, Texas; brother Floyd Ray Pitts and wife, Jan, of Irving, Texas; sister Betty Thornberg and husband, Wayne, of Briar, Texas; sister-in-law Edith Cleek of Hephzibah, Greorgia; grandchildren Jed and Michelle Blanks of Santa Fe, Texas, Justin and Tammy Blanks of Dickinson, Texas, Kelcey Haas and husband, Cale, of Spring, Texas, Jeremy Blanks of Denton, Texas, and Jerod Blanks of College Station, Texas; great-grandchildren Memphis and Miles Blanks, Carter Haas; numerous nephews and nieces; and a host of friends and family.

 Viva is preceded in death by her husband Charles David “Chuck” Blanks; parents Fred and Ruby Pitts; and son Charles Keith Blanks and wife, Linda Anne.
