Funeral Services for Thurma Freeby, 84, of Decatur, Texas, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport, followed by burial at Eastside Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, September 21, 2026, at the funeral home. David Mosley will officiate.
Thurma (Hendrix) Freeby died on September 14, 2026, in Decatur, Texas, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a legacy of love. Born October 21, 1941, in Amarillo, Texas, she was the daughter of William and Bernice (Springfield) Hendrix.
Thurma found joy in painting, NASCAR races, gardening, and nature. Through art, she expressed her creativity; at the racetrack, she embraced excitement and fun; and in the garden, she found beauty and peace.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Clarence Freeby; her son, Bruce Freeby, and his wife, Susan; and her daughter, Janet Freeby. Her family will dearly miss her and cherish her memory.
Thurma will be lovingly remembered by everyone whose life she touched.
