Terry Lynn (Gideon) Baker, born on July 3, 1950, in San Angelo, Texas, to Jesse and Zelma (Falkner) Gideon, passed away peacefully in Paradise, Texas, on January 25, 2026.
Terry married Royce Baker on June 19, 1970, in San Angelo, Texas. Their marriage lasted for 55 wonderful years, during which they built a loving home and enjoyed many adventures together. Following Royce's career in coaching, they moved several times—living in Seymour, Lubbock, Farwell, Albany, and eventually making San Angelo their home for two decades, where they formed enduring friendships and treasured memories.
Terry pursued her education at Angelo State University in San Angelo, where she earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. In 2004, her professional journey led the family to Paradise, Texas. There, Terry began a deeply rewarding career in education, making a significant impact on the lives of countless students. Through her unwavering dedication and genuine love for learning, she inspired those she taught and left a lasting legacy in the classroom.
Travel was a lifelong passion for Terry. She took great joy in visiting all 50 states and exploring countries such as Canada, England, Switzerland, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Costa Rica. These travels reflected her adventurous spirit and love for encountering new cultures.
In her leisure time, Terry enjoyed playing bridge and other games, reading, and spending time with her family. She was also an active member of Grace Fellowship Church in Paradise, where she shared her faith and friendship with the congregation.
Terry Baker's legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her father, Don Gideon of San Angelo, Texas; mother, Zelma Gideon Tankersley of San Angelo, Texas; and stepfather, Boyce Tankersley of Mertzon, Texas.
Those left to cherish Terry’s memory are her husband, Royce Baker; son, Brandon Baker of Carrollton, Texas; daughter, Lynsey Kelly and husband Matt of Arlington, Texas; honorary sister, Dianne Schuder of Eden, Texas; cherished grandchildren, Dean, Avery, Cameron, and Charlotte Kelly of Arlington, Texas; and her beloved dog, Prissy.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be directed to the charity of your choice.
