Graveside services for Shirley “Nina” Weaver, 85, of Chico, Texas, will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Dawson Cemetery in Chico. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Pastor Jack McAsey will officiate.
Pallbearers will include Bobby Dawson, Doug Caldwell, Jarod Caldwell, Jeff Pewitt, Derek Duncan, and Brandon Dickson.
Shirley “Nina” Catherine (Sprague) Weaver was born July 12, 1940, in Crowell, Texas, to Walter and Vera (Dawson) Sprague, and peacefully passed away August 28, 2025, in Chico, Texas, surrounded by her family.
Nina was not just a remarkable individual; she was a beacon of kindness and compassion, exemplifying a life dedicated to service and the betterment of others. She was an esteemed member of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and devoted her career to helping those in their most vulnerable moments. Her commitment to public service was admirable, but it was her gentle spirit and warm smile that truly made a difference in the lives of so many.
Beyond her professional life, Nina had a deep passion for creativity and crafts. She enjoyed reading, sewing, jewelry making, and embroidery, often finding joy in working with her hands and creating beautiful pieces.
Her family and friends will remember Nina for her kindness, dedication, and the warmth she brought into their lives. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Nina is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Vera Ruth Sprague and sister Myrna Ruth White.
Those left to cherish Nina’s memory are her daughter, Cathy Caldwell; son, Doug Franklin Caldwell and wife Denda; grandchildren, Jarod Paul Caldwell, Amanda Allene Caldwell, and Britney Ann Caldwell; great-granddaughter, Madison Renee Caldwell; and many extended family and friends.
