Services for Shirley Jo Munn, 81, of Bridgeport, Texas will be at 10:00 am on Monday, August 10, 2020 at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport, officiated by Brother Gary Demmitt. Burial will follow at East Bridgeport Cemetery in Bridgeport. Pallbearers are Skeet Caruthers, Chris Tackel, Terry Long, Stephen Forester, Perry Grooms, and David Walker. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Sunday, August 9 also at the funeral home. Shirley passed away Wednesday, August 5 at home in Bridgeport.
Shirley was born on May 7, 1939 in Bridgeport, Texas to Joe and Tennie Bell (Walker) Smith. She worked as a nurse in the 50’s. She then went to work for Lone Star Gas for over 20 years. Shirley retired from the Bridgeport Public Library in 2003.
She really enjoyed going to Winstar to play the ruby red slot machine and bingo. Her favorite restaurants were Casa Torres, El Fenix and La Madeleine. She always put others and animals before herself. Shirley was known as the cat lady in Bridgeport.
Shirley is survived by her son Brett Munn and wife Monica of Paradise, Texas; daughter Amy Galley and husband Matt of Dallas, Texas; brothers
Joe Ed Smith and wife Glenda of Georgetown, Texas and Johnny Smith and wife Kayanne of Bridgeport; granddaughters Angela Munn of Paradise, Felicia Lamb and husband Adam of Paradise, Berlin and Emerson Galley of Dallas; great-grandchildren Kayden and Adilyn Lamb of Paradise; and many more family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Billy Munn, and sister Judy Denton
In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the SPCA and the American Cancer Society.
