Memorial services for Herbert Scott Prater, 57, of Fort Worth, Texas will be 11:00 am Saturday, July 11, 2020 at the First Baptist Church of Fort Worth. . Scott passed away Saturday, July 4, 2020 at home, after a battle with Glioblastoma cancer.

He was born September 4, 1962 in Hurst, Texas to Royce A. and Barbara A.  (Sims) Prater.

He grew up in Haltom City, Texas and was a huge Texas Rangers baseball fan and often had season tickets. If he wasn’t attending in person, he was watching the game on TV. Scott had even done several walk-on tryouts with the Rangers.

Some of his other interests were travel, golf and cooking. He was a man who enjoyed life.

He worked for Lane Supply for many years and considered his fellow workers to be part of the family.

Scott was a huge fan of the 1993 movie Tombstone, and his favorite saying from that movie spoken by Doc Holliday while killing the bad guys was, ‘Say when’ and he repeated this phrase often as his fight mantra while battling brain cancer.

Scott is survived by his wife of 36 years, Carma Prater; sons Bryan S. Prater and Zack S. Prater; brother Lawrence A. Prater; sister Beverly Morrison; and mother Barbara A. Prater.

He was preceded in death by his father Royce A. Prater.
