Funeral services for Patsy Ruth (O’Dell) Worthington, 87, of Wizard Wells, TX, will be held at 1 pm Thursday, January 18, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Wizard Wells, with burial to follow at Wizard Wells Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
Pallbearers will include Alton Timmons, Chad Dunn, Roy Pitts, Chance Valiant, Randy Thomas, and Phillip Morris; Honorary Pallbearers Paul Potter, Nate Lee, David Smith, Timmy O’Dell, and Wayland O’Dell.
Patsy Ruth (O’Dell) Worthington, lovingly known by family and friends as Granny, was born on March 19, 1936, to J.P.(Pat) and Emma (Greer) O’Dell in Chico, Texas, and peacefully passed away January 12, 2024, in Decatur, Texas.
Patsy married in 1955 and moved to Wizard Wells becoming a long-time resident and faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Wizard Wells. She dedicated many years of service to Lone Star Gas in Jack County before retiring. Her hard work and dedication were evident throughout her career as she always strived to provide the best for those around her. Outside of work, Patsy enjoyed shopping, cooking, sewing, and spending time with her family. She touched the hearts of many with her genuine kindness and generosity. Patsy opened her home with open arms, always ensuring that no one ever left hungry or without a smile. She leaves behind beautiful memories that will be forever cherished by her loved ones.
Those left to cherish Patsy’s memory are her sons Doyle and Yank Worthington of Wizard Wells; sisters Jannie Tucknies of Runaway Bay and Becky Gober and husband David of Paradise; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; special great-grandson Weston Worthington; special friends Janell Row Andrews, Connie Wilkerson, and Jerri; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Patsy is preceded in death by her parents; son Douglas and Dewey Worthington; brothers Eugene, Paul, and Billy Joe O’Dell; sister Judy Hamm; and niece Annette Edwards.
