Nelda Shawn

Nelda Shawn, 56, of Bridgeport, Texas passed away Monday, May 21, 2012 in Decatur. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Balsora Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Willow Point Cemetery. Mark Buckner will officiate. Pallbearers are Bobby Cantrell, Wesley Cantrell, Charlie McDaniel, Wade McDaniel, Mikie W. Parsons and Dustin Anglin. Honorary pallbearers are Orville Stone and Allen Wingate. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Nelda was born December 19, 1955, in Bridgeport to Dorothy (Holt) and James Parsons. She married Jerald Shawn on March 8, 1974. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of Balsora Baptist Church. She loved her family, fishing, camping, gambling and talking on the phone. Everyone loved her peach cobbler. Nelda is survived by her husband of thirty-eight years; son Billy Shawn; daughter Serrena Hamilton and husband Bryan; mother; brother Michael Parsons; sisters Lois Pittman and husband Gary, Mildred Anglin and husband Jeff, Melba Stutt, Helen Fields, and Rita Meaders; grandchildren Brady, Justin, and Bradley; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father; and sister Sandra Ramirez.
