Mike Hamblin

Funeral services for Mike Hamblin, 66, of Decatur, Texas will be held at 2 pm Friday, May 2, 2025, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport with burial to follow at Eastside Cemetery. Brother Bill Hughes will officiate.

Pallbearers will include Nick Scarpinato, Jimmy, Paul, Will, Casey, and Tyler Hamblin, and Honorary Pallbearer Joshua Bridwell.

Jerry Michael "Mike" Hamblin was born alongside his twin sister, Barbara, on December 20, 1958, in Bridgeport, Texas, to William "Dub" and Dorothy "Dot" (Jones) Hamblin. Although born with cerebral palsy, Mike refused to be defined by his condition, facing each of life's challenges head on, with both determination and a smile.

A Bridgeport High School graduate, "Class of '78," Mike had a passion for sports, particularly football, which led him to become an athletic trainer while still in school, and even possessed an uncanny ability for passing a football. Perhaps because of his passion for the sport or, maybe, a lapse in judgment, Mike was also an unwavering Dallas Cowboys' fan who seldom missed their games.

He married the love of his life, Bessie Weaver, on January 9, 1993, and shared a life filled with both love and laughter for the next 32 years until the time of his death. Mike completed his earthly journey during the early morning hours of Tuesday, April 22, 2025, in Decatur, Texas, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill and Terry Hamblin; nephew, Jason Hamblin; and his beloved chihuahua, Coco.

Those left to cherish Mike's memory are his wife; brothers Bob, Jim, and Larry Hamblin; sister Barbara Scarpinato; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
