Marvin Andrew "Andy" Smith, 74, of Decatur, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, in Bridgeport, Texas.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at 3:00pm at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home.
Andy was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico on January 8, 1950, to William and Nettie (Kitchens) Smith. He graduated from Bryan Adams High School in Dallas. He married Melba on July 25, 1970, and they had two daughters. He went on to marry Janett in 1993 and gained a bonus daughter. Andy and Janett owned Marbles Music & Video, as well as Noah's Ark Pet Store in Decatur. He was a member of Decatur Rotary Club for 14 years, including 2 years as president. Andy retired from Devon Energy after 30+ years as a Lease Operator.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, David Smith; his sisters, Mary Lois "Penny" Baisden, Rosetta Jennings, Jennifer "Jennie" Suellen Perkins, Annie Mae Smith and Edna Fay Smith.
He is survived by his daughters, Susan Gómez, and husband Chuck of Decatur, Tara Smith and husband Brad of Rockwall, and bonus daughter, Charity Roden; grandchildren, Harrison Taylor, Sydnie Diffee and husband Dillon, Addison Taylor, Annabel Gómez, Meagan Gómez, Jacob Roden and Jaime Roden; brother, Winston Smith and wife Barbara; sister, Sandra Rowland; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his sweetheart, Sandy Choate.
Andy was the best daddy and grandpa, fun, generous, loved to tell stories and jokes, cook out, plan family reunions and make memories with those he loved. He loved visiting and exploring Cloudcroft, New Mexico. He enjoyed watching football, baseball and especially loved watching his girls play basketball and didn't hesitate to yell at the refs when they missed a call. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
