A Celebration of Life for Lori Hancock, 59, of Bridgeport, Texas, are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the First Methodist Church in Bridgeport. Visitation will take place at the church beginning at 9 a.m., one hour prior to the service.
Lori Michelle Hancock passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born on August 23, 1966, in Fort Worth, Lori graduated from Bridgeport High School. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Christian Studies from Grand Canyon University and a master’s degree in Counseling from Southern Oklahoma. Lori was ordained in 2015.
Lori dedicated 22 years to the field of education and spent 10 years leading youth groups in various churches throughout Wise County. She was known for welcoming children—especially those who felt overlooked—into her care. Four years ago, Lori achieved her dream of becoming a high school counselor, leaving a lasting impact through her warmth and wisdom.
Lori is survived by her husband of 19 years, John Hancock; her sons, Tyler Hannah and best friend Kim Barnes (children James, Miles, and Emma), Tanner Hannah, and Tully Hannah; her daughters, Daneyl Walker and fiancée Colin Thomas (daughters Kaylee and Zoe), and Keila Butler and husband Winston (daughters Ava and Hannah).
She is also survived by her father, Michael Paul Stark and wife Lavonne; her mother, Sandra Townsend; her aunt, Deanne Hughes; her cousin, Shawn Hughes; her father-in-law, Loyd Hancock and partner Margaret; her nephew, Hunter Stark; and her children’s father, Brian Hannah.
Lori is preceded in death by her brother, Michael Paul Stark Jr.; her uncle, Nick Hughes; and her mother-in-law, Shirley Hancock.
Family and friends will always remember Lori for her boundless compassion, her infectious laugh, and her simple motto: “Just be nice.”
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to organizations supporting at-risk youth, in honor of Lori’s lifelong dedication to loving and mentoring children.
