Lonnie Hobbs

Funeral services for Lonnie Hobbs, 83, of Bridgeport, Texas, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport, with burial at West Bridgeport Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. Officiant will be Sonny Smith.

Pallbearers will include Kyle Stringer, Keith Strattan, Kent Phillips, Harley Hobbs, Jamie Collins and Charles Jobe; Honorary Pallbearer Scotty Jobe.

Lonnie Hobbs, a lifelong resident of Bridgeport, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026. He was born on May 27, 1942, to Frank and Clara (Thornton) Hobbs. Throughout his life, Lonnie embraced the joys of nature and community, living a simple and meaningful life.

Lonnie shared many years with his beloved wife, Dixie Hobbs. Together, they built a life filled with love. A man who found happiness outdoors, Lonnie enjoyed fishing, farming, and tending to his garden. The connection he felt with the land was a constant source of peace and purpose for him.

He was well known in his community, frequently seen at auctions and the sale barn. It was not just the market prices that interested him, but also the chance to visit with others, exchange stories, and strengthen friendships. Those moments of camaraderie were important parts of his day.

Family was at the heart of Lonnie’s life. He treasured the time spent with his children, grandchildren, and friends, showing them love and care in many quiet and meaningful ways. The bonds he nurtured will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Clara Hobbs; sisters, Tressie Deatherage and Marie Quinn; brothers, Buford Hobbs, Sherman Hobbs, Billy Roy Hobbs, Randall Hobbs, George Hobbs and Acie Hobbs and Elizabeth Hobbs McDaniel, the mother of his children.

Those left to cherish Lonnie’s memory are his wife, Dixie (Shawn) Hobbs; son, Frank Hobbs and wife Tanya; daughter, Melissa Collins and husband Jamie; sisters, Nellie McMorris and Christene Jobe; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren as well as extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
