Keith Young

Keith L. Young, 82, of Bridgeport, passed away in his home on Monday January 8, 2018. Services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, January 13 at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport, officiated by Pastor Steve Hill. Burial will follow at East Bridgeport Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, January 12 from 6-8 pm, also at Jones.

Keith was born December 3, 1935 in Offerle, Kansas to Hobart and Gladys (Piland) Young. He married Mary Giles on March 31, 1955. He was a Petroleum Engineer for 25 years, then earned his teaching degree and became a teacher for the Texas prison systems. He worked well into his early eighties until he fell ill. Keith was also a mentor for young men going into the engineering profession. He was a member of Toastmasters International, and the Spirit Life Church. His hobbies were anything related to geology and genealogy.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years Mary Young; son Allan Young; daughters Julie Young and Janette Files; sisters Grace Moe and Deloris Pitts; grandchildren Sheree Gray, Jordan Files, Sophy Fillipelli, Gretchen Jensen, Hope Young and Viki Shade; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Carl Young, and sisters Lola Campbell and Lorna Wicks.
