Joyce Lorraine (Carter) O’Dell was born on November 7, 1963, in Frankfurt, Germany, to Ralph and Ann (Prause) Carter. She passed away peacefully at her home in Chico, Texas, on May 31, 2026, at the age of 62, surrounded by her family.

She married Wayland O’Dell in Las Vegas, Nevada, on May 2, 2001. Joyce was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother who found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially searching for arrowheads, a pastime that led to a treasured collection. Her kindness will be remembered, and the moments she shared with family and friends will be cherished.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Ralph and Ann Carter; her sister, Linda Blanks and her brother, Mike carter.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Wayland O’Dell; son Leland Whitsett and wife Casey; sister Wendy Denney and husband Jeff; granddaughter, Ella Grace Whitsett and a host of family and friends who will miss her dearly.
