John "Johnny" Newton

Graveside services for John “Johnny” Newton, 74, of Bridgeport, Texas, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Eastside Cemetery in Bridgeport. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will include Michael Williford, Ryan Newton, Harley Williford, Brian Newton, Joshua Newton, and Lee Newton.

John "Johnny" Randolph Newton was born on March 17, 1951, in Haskell, Texas, to Louis Edward, Jr. and James Mildred Newton. He passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas.

After a dedicated 47-year career as a foreman at Devon Energy, Johnny retired. He was a proud cattleman with varied interests such as gardening, fishing, and working out at the gym. Known for his unique charm, Johnny often mowed his lawn in “Daisy Duke" shorts, becoming a local legend. He also enjoyed watching his favorite western "Gunsmoke" and cherished time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Edward, Jr. and Mildred Newton, and brother, Louis Edward Newton, III.

Those left to cherish Johnny’s memory are his daughters, Tiffaney Williford and husband Michael, and Amy Perry; brother, Thomas Newton and wife Janie; grandchildren, Ryan Newton and wife Jessica, Jamie Williford, Harley Williford, Killian Smith; great-grandchildren, Kenzlee and Jericoe Newton; nephews, Lee Newton and wife Lauren, Brian Newton and wife Kari, and Joe Newton and wife Kim; nieces, Sara Burcham and husband Clay, and Kim Raby and husband Paul; and many family members and friends.
