Joe Wayland Richardson, 90, went to be with our Lord on July 29, 2026, at his home in Paradise, Texas, surrounded by loving family.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Hudson and Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Wilson Prairie Cemetery following the service.
Officiants will be Clint Goodman and Alan Monk. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Joe was born May 28, 1936, in Cottondale, Texas, to L.D. and Rena Inez (Renez) Banks Richardson. He grew up and graduated from Paradise High School in 1954. Upon graduation, he volunteered for the United States Army and served during peace time in Alaska.
After returning from the army, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Sylvia Ann Pewitt on June 16, 1957, in Bridgeport, Texas. They shared 69 wonderful years together and raised their three children in Paradise.
Joe had various jobs and then found his career with Saladmaster Corporation in 1967, where he remained for over 50 years.
He attended the Church Of Christ his entire life, serving as an elder in the Church for over 50 years. He and his wife enjoyed many trips throughout the years with their close friends Tex and Lillie Monk.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Raymond “Red” Richardson, and Jack Richardson.
He is survived by wife, Sylvia Ann of Paradise, Texas; daughter, Judy Cook and husband Ray of Paradise, Texas; daughter, Bonnie Doty and husband Britt of Bridgeport, Texas; son, Joe Wayne Richardson, and wife Tamera of Witter, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Kristin Dagley and husband Justin of Paradise, Texas, Colter Doty and wife Tarea of Addison, Texas, Kameron Greenwood and husband Billy of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, Caitlin Brandon and husband Michael of Haltom City, Texas, Claudia Richardson and husband Phil Aufdencamp of San Francisco, California, and Claire Richardson and husband Blake Gulbransen of Montgomery, Alabama; 10 great-grandchildren, Maddison Johnson, Hayden Dagley, Karsen Brandon, Hampton Dagley, Garrett Greenwood, Creed Johnson, Palmer Dagley, Avery Greenwood, Asa Doty, and Nova Doty; as well as great-great-granddaughter, Oakleigh Rose Johnson; two sisters, Sue Laurent of Willow Park, Texas, and Jan Stanfield of Bridgeport, Texas; and many extended family, friends, and loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Paradise Church of Christ at: P.O. Box 252 Paradise, Texas 76073.
