Joe Bob Norwood, 78, of Bridgeport, Texas passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2014 in Decatur, Texas. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Twin Oaks Assembly of God Church in Bridgeport. Pastors Claude Hendrix and M. F. Hankins will officiate. Pallbearers are Dale Norwood, Jerry Michlitsch, Mike Sanderson, Ronald Sanderson, DeWayne Norwood, and Jack McAsey. There will be a 3:00 PM graveside service in Riverview Cemetery in Seymour, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Jones Family Funeral Home. Joe Bob was born October 10, 1935 in Hefner, Texas to Celestie (Deatherage) and James Norwood. He served his country in the Army 49th Armed Division National Guard and six months in the National Guard of Texas at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas. He married Wanda D. Thorn on August 1, 1959 in Seymour. He retired from GTE after thirty-three years of service. He served as a deacon in three churches and was a member of Twin Oaks Assembly of God Church. Joe Bob is survived by his wife of fifty-five years; daughters Charlotte Norwood of Bridgeport, and Darlene Hager and husband Scott of Paradise, Texas; son Larry Norwood and wife Amy of Runaway Bay, Texas; grandchildren Landry and Ryan Norwood and Brooke, Whitney, and Nash Hager; sisters Lois Riggs of Monroe, Oklahoma, Lillie Etta Webb of Bennington, Oklahoma, Neoma Henderson of Burleson, Texas, and Irene Sanderson of Newark, Texas; brothers Billy Norwood of Graham, Texas and Carl Norwood of Rule, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Sammie, Roy, Alvin, Elmer and Earl Norwood; and sister Leona Jones.
