Jo Evelyn Atkins

Jo Evelyn Atkins, 69, of New Braunfels, TX, passed away on December 22, 2017. Graveside services will be December 27, at 2:00 PM at Oaklawn Cemetery. Visitation will be December 26, from 6-7 PM at Jones Family Funeral Home-Decatur.  

She was born on July 12, 1948 to Thomas and Tommie Ann Hodges in Decatur.  She married John David Atkins on December 17, 1966.  Jo Evelyn was a member of First Baptist Church in New Braunfels.  She was a wife, mom, bookkeeper, stenographer, and a sales associate at Walmart in New Braunfels. 

Jo Evelyn is survived by daughter, Christy Jo Patton and husband Danny of Shiner, TX; son, Carl Waymon Atkins and wife Sheila, of Haslet, TX; grandson, John Dalton Patton, of Shiner; mother, Tommie Ann Hodges of Alvord;  brother, James Hodges & wife Michelle of Alvord, sisters, LaWayne Hauser & husband Karl of Ft Worth, Margaret Gilbreath & husband Cleddy of Gainesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.   

She was preceded in death by her husband, John David Atkins; father, Thomas Hodges; and brother, Truitt Hodges. 

The family requests memorials be made to American Cancer Society.
