Jo Carlson Crysler

Jo Carlson Crysler, 51, died peacefully in her home June 3, 2019 in Paradise, Texas while holding hands with her husband and son. Jo is now reunited in heavenly Paradise with Jesus, and the family and friends she has missed for years.

A celebration service will be at 10:00 am Saturday, June 22 at Jones Funeral Home, Bridgeport, Texas. In lieu of flowers, Jo requests a donation in her memory to your local SPCA or your favorite animal rescue organization.

Jo was born August 22, 1967 in Jacksonville, Florida, the youngest of five siblings, and lovingly referred to as “spoiled rotten.” After graduating from Charlotte High School in Punta Gorda, Florida, she earned her Associate of Arts degree at Edison Community College in Ft. Myers, Florida and her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of Central Florida, Orlando.

Before moving to Texas, Jo was an orthodontics assistant in Punta Gorda and Orlando. Once residing in Texas, Jo worked in sales at Allen Samuels Hyundai, Home Depot Interiors as a designer, and actively volunteered at First Baptist Church of Euless. Most of all she enjoyed loving on her family as a devoted and creative homemaker in every sense of the word.

After the deep love Jo had for her human family came her affection for her fur babies: Maggie, Nacho, Paisley, and Scout. Her love for animals, yard work, and the outdoors is unparalleled. Her fondest memories include hiking while travelling/”glamping” with family, friends, and the fur babies in an RV and generously doing kind acts of service for others.

Jo accepted her diagnosis as a call to help others. As a woman of great faith, she encouraged her fellow chemo patients with homemade items and bracelets that spread her cheerful optimism and scripture promises of hope and strength; touching dozens of people during her journey. Jo will always be remembered as faithful, conscientious, and joy-filled by people and animals alike.

Jo’s family would like to offer a special thanks to the ladies of the Grace Fellowship Bible study group in which she participated, as well as her Mets Group at the Cancer Support Community of North Texas. The family would also like to thank Envoy Hospice Care, and the many friends and neighbors who served as the hands and feet of Jesus. We are forever grateful.

Jo is survived by her loving and devoted husband Mark Curran; son Bradly Scott Crysler of Plano, Texas; stepchildren Helen Curran of Arlington, Texas, Elizabeth Curran of Southlake, Texas, Charles Curran of Austin, Texas, and Michael Curran of Fayetteville, Arkansas. She is also survived by her siblings: Beth Carlson Smith and husband Kevin of Orlando, Kirk Carlson and wife Kathleen of Naples, Florida, and Bruce Page, also of Naples, as well as several nieces and nephews she adored.

Jo is preceded in death by her father Gordon L. Carlson, sister Westray Lynn Carlson, and mother Barbara S. McConnell.
