No service for Jimmy Wayne Mitchum, 71 of Bridgeport, Texas, will be held at this time.

Jimmy Wayne Mitchum, born on February 20, 1954, in Bridgeport, Texas, to Tommy and Mona (Stone) Mitchum. He passed away on January 23, 2026.


Jimmy spent most of his adult life detailing vehicles. Later in life he drove school buses. Both of these were passions of his. Driving school buses led to the desire to collect diecast, model and any other bus memorabilia. Jimmy shared many happy moments doing arts and crafts with his spouse Judy Lynn Mitchum. Jimmy and Judy were married in Wise County, Texas. The two spent 25 wonderful years building a life filled with love and making beautiful, lasting memories.

He never met a stranger. He was a social and easygoing soul. He will be remembered for his warmth and joy he brought to those around him.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Tommy and Mona Mitchum of Bridgeport, Texas; brothers Mike Mitchum and Jerry Mitchum of Bridgeport, Texas. Sister, Shirley Fortenberry of Oklahoma; and stepdaughter, Janiet Acuff of Bowie, Texas.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Judy Mitchum; sons Tim Mitchum and Thomas Mitchum; stepson, Ray Johnson; stepdaughter Ida Bell Manuel; grandchildren, Fiona, Faith, Zander, Vivian, Carrie Ann, Destiny, Kaleb, Tifani and Derik; and two great grandchildren.
