Javonte Marquis Chaffin

A memorial service for Javonte Marquis Chaffin, 26, of Rifle, Colorado, will be 1:00 pm, Friday, August 26, 2022, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport, officiated by Pastor Thomas Mitchum. Javonte passed away July 23, after a tragic motorcycle accident.

Javonte was born February 14, 1996, in Wichita Falls, Texas. After he graduated from Bridgeport High in 2014, Javonte went on to join the United States Marine Corps, completing his tour of duty with the rank of corporal.

After completing his four years in the Marines, he started a new journey in Colorado where he shared a life with his wife of three years, Fernanda, producing daughter, Jalezza Fae Chaffin, on September 1, 2020.

He spent his time watching the Dallas Cowboys, riding his motorcycle and playing all the sports he could get into but particularly loved basketball, swimming and bowling.

Javonte leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends who were always entertained by his stories and hilarious sense of humor. If there was one thing Javonte was, it was that he was determined... No matter what the challenge or request, he gave it his all to ensure he exceeded all expectations whether for himself or others; he always made it happen.

He was beloved by everyone who ever met him; a fantastic father, a great husband and a best friend to all walks of life. No matter the circumstance, you'd always leave with a story of something funny/crazy Javonte did while you were with him.  He truly brought the life to the party. A “for sure” conversation starter was anything related to Cowboys, motorcycles or cool cars. His travels took him on a worldwide tour including many regions in Japan, Turks & Caicos, Bahamas, Puerto Rico and many trips across the United States in between.

Javonte is survived by his wife, Fernanda; daughter, Jalezza, whom he loved deeply; parents Dan and Frankie Abney; sisters Madison and husband Steffin Beverly of Ohio, Pam Stevens of Bridgeport, Brandi and husband Mike Delaware of North Dakota, and Madeline Brown; nephew Carson Stevens of Missouri; and nieces Carli Stevens of Missouri, Joline and Joanna Delaware, and Serenity and Paityn Beverly; and all those who loved him dearly.

Javonte is now at peace, joining his favorite brother, Bill Stevens. That is going to be one fun party re-united!

“You never said I’m leaving, you never said goodbye. You were gone before we knew it, and only God knew why. A million times we needed you, a million times we cried. If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died. In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place that no one could ever fill. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn’t go alone. For part of us went with you, the day God took you home.”
