Funeral services for Janice Phillips, 87, of Bridgeport, Texas, are set for 2 p.m. Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Bible Baptist Church in Bridgeport with burial following at Thomas Cemetery. Visitation is from 5–7 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home. Pastor David Pugh will officiate.
Pallbearers will include her grandsons, Josh Foreman, Olan Rhea Foreman, Mitchell Foreman, Jason Foreman, Toby Shaw, Anthony Holman, Shane Abel, and Matthew McLendon.
Janice (Roberts) Phillips, a beloved member of the Bridgeport community, passed away on January 29, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on January 15, 1939, in Decatur, Texas, to James Thomas and Ella Ethel (Myers) Roberts. Janice lived a full and vibrant life. She was known for her dedication to her career as a realtor, retiring after 30 years.
Janice married Jackie Phillips on November 29, 1968, at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Bridgeport. Their union lasted over 57 years, filled with love and cherished memories. Janice was a woman of faith, having found salvation at the age of 14 during Bible School. She became a member of Bible Baptist Church in Bridgeport in 2005, where she was an active and engaged participant in church activities.
Throughout her life, Janice enjoyed various hobbies and interests. She had a special passion for collecting red birds, or Cardinals, which brought her joy. Additionally, she touched the lives of many children as a campfire and Blue Bird leader, sharing her warmth and wisdom.
Her family and friends will remember Janice for her kind heart, generous spirit, and her unwavering commitment to those she loved.
Janice is preceded in death by her father, James Thomas Roberts; mother, Ella Ethel Carter; son, Jimmy Dan Foreman; daughters, Penny Jackson and Melisa McLendon; grandson, Cameron Williams; great-grandson, Zealand Jackson; brothers, Gerald Roberts (twin), Don Roberts and Sammy Roberts; sisters, Laverne Whitsitt and Lucille Smith.
Those left to cherish Janice’s memory are her husband, Jackie Phillips of Bridgeport; son, Jerald Van Foreman and wife Paula of Bridgeport; daughters, Ann Shaw and husband Craig of Decatur, Beverly Williams of Decatur, and Sheri Whitehead and husband Tim of North Richland Hills; son-in-law, Roy McLendon of Granbury; daughter-in-law, Marsha Foreman of Decatur; niece, Monette Burris of Bridgeport; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
