James Hamblin, Sr.

A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date for James Hamblin, Sr., 75, of Bridgeport, Texas.

James Lee Hamblin, Sr. was born February 14, 1951, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to William ‘Dub’ and Dorothy ‘Dot’ (Jones) Hamblin. He passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, at his home in Bridgeport, surrounded by the family who loved him.

On June 11, 1977, James married Lavonda McDaniel in Paradise, Texas. Together, they built a life and shared more than 49 years of marriage. The love and memories they created became a treasured part of the family he leaves behind.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Dub and Dorothy Hamblin; his brothers, Bill, Terry, and Mike Hamblin; his grandparents, Paul Herbert Jones, Sr. and Georgia Jones; and his nephew, Jason Paul Hamblin.

James leaves behind many loved ones who will cherish his memory, including his wife, Lavonda Hamblin; his son, James Hamblin, Jr., and wife Jean; his daughter, Jamie Ottinger, and husband Kyle; his brothers, Bob Hamblin and wife Betty, and Larry Joe Hamblin and wife Joyce; his sister, Barbara Scarpinato; his sister-in-law, Carmen Hamblin; his grandchildren, Tyler, Jacob (Tristyn), Toby (Giselle), Kolby (Kelsey), and Alex Hamblin, Kason, Emily, Noah, and Leah Ottinger; great-grandchildren, Lila and Luna Hamblin, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
