Memorial services for Jack Skidmore, 78, of Paradise, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2025, at RISE Church in Decatur.
Jackie “Jack” Skidmore was born on March 14, 1947, in Dallas, Texas, to Haskell and Dorthy (McBride) Skidmore, and went to be with our Lord on May 20, 2025, in Paradise, Texas.
Jack married Meredith Celeste (Green) Skidmore on May 14, 1966, in Midland, Texas. They shared a remarkable journey together, happily married for 59 years until his passing. Their bond was a true testament to love and partnership.
Jack dedicated his life to serving others, both in his community and through his work. He was a pastor at the Church of the Living God in Cottondale, Texas, where he was known for his unwavering faith and commitment to helping those in need.
In addition to his pastoral duties, Jack also contributed his talents as a plumber, bringing comfort and safety to countless homes. His practical skills were complemented by his deep compassion for others, making him a cherished figure in the lives of many.
Jack proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1968. This experience shaped his values and further instilled in him a sense of duty to his country and community.
He also had a love for mission trips, where he found great joy in extending a helping hand to those less fortunate. Jack also enjoyed reading and cherished spending time with his friends and family, creating lasting memories that will be fondly remembered.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Haskell and Dorthy Skidmore, and in-laws, Billy and Georgia Green.
Those left to cherish Jack’s memory are his wife, Celeste Skidmore; sons, Heath and wife Brandy, Timothy and wife Cindy, David and wife Connie, and Steve and wife Ashlie; daughters, Anna and husband Shane, and Sarah; brother, Gene Skidmore and wife Thelma; grandchildren, Gennifer, Heather, Alizabeth, Sharla, Danielle, Sonja, Blake, Liam, Riah, Constance, Joey, Natalie, Madison, Trein, Trew, Tripton, Teagan, Willow, Rose, Parker, Carly, Gavin, Makayla, and Trinity; two great-grandchildren plus one on the way; and a host of friends and family.
