Graveside service for Henry Lee Moody, 79, of Utah, formerly of Paradise, Texas, will be 2pm Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at Paradise Cemetery. He will receive full military honors for his years of service and dedication to his country.

 

Henry Lee Moody (Hank, as given to him by the Navy) passed at his home in Payson, Utah, on Monday, November 21, 2022. He was born on August 5, 1943, in Paradise, Texas, to William Henry and Augusta Moody. Henry attended Paradise High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He was a decorated veteran, serving his country during Vietnam and the Cold War. Henry served honorably in the United States Navy Submarine Service for 27 years, achieving the rank of Senior Chief Radioman and retiring in 1988. Naval officer's honors are indicated on his uniform and Henry Lee was well-decorated with medals, badges, and campaigns, such as Enlisted Submarine Insignia, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct (sixth award), Navy Expeditionary Medal, Achievement Medal Gold Star, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist. During his naval career, he traveled the world on numerous submarines, tenders, and staff duties from Spain to Scotland and several other bases abroad and here in the United States. But he loved Texas most, and did tours of duty in both Dallas and Corpus Christi. Henry served as a Senior Chief Radioman and held several distinguished roles in highly confidential services and duties.

 

Henry is survived by his children, Holly Berry and husband, Wendell of Bridgeport, Texas, Lance Moody and wife, Shanna of Bridgeport, Texas, Cale Moody and wife, Rebecca of New Harmony, Utah, and Aaron Moody of Hurricane, Utah; grandchildren Connor and Caiden Berry, Taylor, Jayden, and Bexley Moody; beloved niece Jeana Actkinson and husband, Bobby of Runaway Bay, Texas.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Doris McCarty and husband, Cliff, Gwendolyn Whittenburg and husband, Mark, and Inez Franks and husband Marshall; and grandson Logan Moody.
