Harvey Weatherly, Jr.

Funeral Services for Harvey Weatherly, Jr., 77, of Chico, Texas, will be held at 11 am Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Grace Fellowship Church in Paradise, with a burial to follow at Chico Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-8 pm Monday, November 27, 2023, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Dr. Bill Hughes and J.D. Coffman will be officiating.

Pallbearers will include Cameron Weatherly, Colby Burdine, Ben Burdine, Kolton Forbus, Camden Garcia, Wade Allen, Ubaldo Garcia, Matt Robinson, and Nate Dears; Honorary Pallbearers include Ronnie Clifton, Tommy Weatherly, Mike Deaton, A.D. Franks, and Kyle Clifton.

Harvey was born on January 30, 1946, in Decatur, Texas, to Harvey Sr. and Lucille (Easley) Weatherly, and peacefully passed away November 21, 2023, in Chico, Texas.

Harvey dedicated an impressive 46 years of his life to working for Gifford Hill before retiring. He was a loyal employee and took great pride in his work. His commitment to his career was truly admirable.

Beyond his work, Harvey had several hobbies and interests that brought him joy. He loved spending time in nature and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and shooting. But above all else, he delighted in attending sporting events for his grandkids and cheering them on. His presence at these games meant the world to them, as he showcased his love and pride for each one of them.

Harvey was also known for his calm demeanor and had a favorite saying that perfectly captured his outlook on life: "The main thing is don't get excited." These words of wisdom served as a reminder for all to appreciate the simple joys in life. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Those left to cherish Harvey’s memory are his loving wife of 27 years Betty Weatherly; sons Bart Weatherly and wife Jo, Seth Weatherly, Cody Burdine and wife Stephanie; daughter Ange Watson and husband Joey; brother George Weatherly and wife Debi; grandchildren Ashleigh Garcia and husband Ubaldo, Nikki Weatherly and boyfriend Nate Dears, Cameron Weatherly, Nova Grace Weatherly, Carly Berkley, Colby Burdine and wife Jenn, Emily Forbus and husband Kolton, Shelby Allen and husband Wade, and Ben Burdine; great-grandchildren Adriann, Camden, Hazel, Ridge, and Keelan; and a host of friends and family.

Harvey is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Johnny and Larry Weatherly; and granddaughter Addison Weatherly.
