Evelyn Johnson

Evelyn Green Johnson, 96 years and 11 months young, went on to be with our Lord and Savior on October 9th, 2016. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 15 at 2:00 pm at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Bridgeport, officiated by Brother Gary Demmitt. Burial will follow at Thomas Cemetery in Bridgeport. Visitation will be Friday, October 14 from 6-8 pm at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. She passed away Sunday, October 9 in Decatur. Evelyn was born in Bridgeport, Texas on the 9th of November, 1919 to Monroe and Annie Carpenter Green. She was one of nine children and the last of their family to pass on to glory. She was a loving mother and faithful member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and loved both families very much. She graduated from Bridgeport, Texas. She was married to Orville B. Johnson Jr. She is survived by her three loving children: daughter Wanda Sue Rich and husband Joe, daughter Carolyn Ann Potteiger and husband Jim, and son Michael Wayne Johnson and his wife DeAnna Graves Johnson; seven grandchildren: Sheryl Johnson, Kelly Weatherly, Kristy Watts, Brad Potteiger, Michelle Vance, Christopher Johnson and Leslie Johnson; 17 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of other family and friends. She was a very loving and giving person and will be greatly missed. Her greatest desire was to see all of her children, family and friends come to know the Lord Jesus. She lived her life as an example and testimony of His love. “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9 (NKJV)
