Funeral Services for Dorothy Williamson, 77, of Bridgeport, Texas, will be held at 3:30 pm Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport, with burial to follow at Eastside Bridgeport Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-8 pm Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at the funeral home.
Dorothy Williamson was born on May 6, 1946, to Willie Garner and Katherine Gambrel in Selma, Alabama, and peacefully passed away February 1, 2024, in Decatur, Texas.
She married Alan Howard Williamson, Sr. on December 23, 1961, in Post, Texas, and was happily married for fifty-eight years, until his passing in 2020.
Dorothy was a homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She spent many years working for the Denton State School, where she retired. In addition, she worked with her husband building a successful trucking company.
Dorothy leaves behind her daughter Carolyn Furr and husband Chuck of Bridgeport; grandchildren Jeffery McGuire and wife Tiffany, Alan H. Williamson III (Trey), Jason McGuire, Angela Striker and husband Tim, Jennifer Schmitz and husband Matt, Ashley Gomez and husband Jonathan, Arthur Williamson (Alex), Jessica Roden and husband Jason, Shayla Bruton and husband Micheal, and Micheal Furr and wife Tootie; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two siblings Billy Garner and Jerry Murrell; daughter-in-law Sheri Williamson; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and a host of extended family and friends.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her father Willie Garner; mother Katherine Gambrel Murrell and husband Larry; husband Alan Howard Williamson, Sr.; son Alan Howard Williamson, Jr.; and two siblings Shirley Campos and Larry Murrell.
