Services for Donald Eugene Rogers, Sr., 78, of Paradise will be 2:00 pm Friday, January 13, 2017 at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport, officiated by Bro. Terry Terry. Burial will follow in Cottondale Cemetery. Pallbearers are grandsons Ross Houston, Chris Kuhlman, Clay Colburn, Michael Watts, Justin Lingle, Dustin Rogers, and Jayden Rogers. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Thursday, January 12, also at Jones. Don was born to Grover John Rogers, Jr. and Mary Emma (Mooney) Rogers on November 6, 1938 in Fort Worth, Texas. He married Ruby Nell Walker January 19, 1962 in Weatherford, Texas. Together they have four children, 10 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Don was a veteran of the Unites States Air Force, serving his country for 4 years, then spent an additional six years in the Reserves. After the military, Don worked for Bell Helicopter and later retired after 35 years of service. He helped organize and form the Cottondale Volunteer Fire Dept. where he served as Chief and Assistant Chief for over 15 years. Don was also on the Bell Helicopter Volunteer Fire Team for 30 years. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruby Rogers of Paradise; his children W.A (Tony) Rogers of Paradise, Terri Leigh Durand and husband Bob of Krum, Donald Eugene Rogers, Jr. and wife Kathy of Mineral Wells, and Karen Sue Colburn and husband Scott of Bridgeport; grandchildren Cody, Stephanie, Sonya, Shawn, Dustin, Michael, Mary, Emily, Kate, and Clay; great-grandchildren Jayden, Raleigh, Kaydence, Carter, Jameson, Kylee, Jaxson, Lennox, Everette, Benett, Kaydence, and Cameron; brother Jerry Rogers of Boyd; sister Janice Davis of Fort Worth; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Don was preceded in death by his parents, infant granddaughter Elizabeth Rogers, and sisters Donna Gayan and Doris Pryatt.
