A private family service for Dale Maurice (McCarty) Mitchum, 82, of Chico, Texas, will be held at a later date.
Dale Maurice Mitchum was born on June 8, 1943, in Graham, Texas, to Curtis McCarty and Rose Garcia, and peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.
On February 17, 1961, she married John C. Mitchum in Sunset, Texas. They were married 50 years before his passing on January 6, 2012.
Maurice, a homemaker, loved immersing herself in mystery novels that fueled her imagination. She spent many days enjoying the heartfelt tunes of Willie Nelson and the classic vocals of Elvis, whose music always brought her joy and happiness.
She is survived by her four sons, Carl Mitchum of Decatur, Texas, Lee Mitchum and wife Ronda of Chico, Texas, Terry Mitchum and wife Adrian of Lavonia, Georgia, and Kelly Mitchum and wife Kim of Alvord, Texas; two daughters, Tammy Groves and husband Glenn of Chico, Texas, and Karen Faulkner and husband Robert of Alvord, Texas; grandchildren, Wayne Mitchum of Lavonia, Georgia, Cheyenne Mitchum of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Ashley Mitchum of Bridgeport, Texas, Amanda Mitchum of Bowie, Texas, Mason Mitchum of Decatur, Texas, Mary Mitchum of Toccoa, Georgia, Amber Mitchum of Denton, Texas, Dakota Faulkner of Alvord, Texas, and Brooklyn Mitchum of Austin, Texas; and seven great-grandchildren.
Maurice is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, James McCarty and Johnny McCarty; and sisters, Mildred McCarty and Beatrice McCarty.
