In lieu of a conventional obituary…

A Heartfelt Thank You to My Momma

Thank you, Momma, for not only telling me you loved me, but for showing your love in everything you did. Your actions spoke louder than words ever could. My needs and wants always came before yours and Daddy’s, and I will never forget that selflessness. Whether it was the late-night phone calls when I or Cooper needed you, or being there for us in both our happiest and most difficult moments, you never hesitated. You were always present—at shopping trips, lunches, and dinners—making yourself available no matter the sacrifice it required.

Thank you for teaching me how to be a lady, leading by example in every aspect—morality, faithfulness, independence, and courage beyond measure. Your personality truly lit up every room you entered.

Thank you for giving me the freedom to make my own choices, whether good or bad, and for always being there to help pick up the pieces when needed. You never judged, just supported and loved.

Thank you for marrying Mr. Ozie Carter, and in doing so, giving me the best daddy I could have ever asked for. Your love and partnership made our family strong.

I thank God every day that you were my mom, for I truly believe it was His decision alone. I am so grateful for you and for all the ways you shaped my life.

Cindy is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Ozie N. Carter; parents, Jewel and Patsy Harrison; brother, Billy Harrison; in-laws, Elois and Robert Carter; and brother-in-law Randy Carter.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Connie Garcia and husband David of Chico, Texas; grandson, Corporal Cooper L. Garcia of Camp LeJune, North Carolina; and siblings, Deborah Hill and husband Leslie, Chris Harrison, Roger Harrison of Alvord, Texas, and Karen Waldon and husband Glenn of Bridgeport, Texas.

For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.
