Graveside services for Charles David ‘Chuck’ Blanks, 84, of Chico, Texas will be 11:00 am Monday, April 20, 2020 at Chico Cemetery, officiated by Dr. Ronnie Lawson. For those not able to attend, the live-streamed services will be viewable on Hudson & Torres’ Facebook page. Visitation will be from 4-6 pm Sunday, April 19 at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Chuck passed away Thursday, April 16 in Decatur.

He was born January 9, 1936 in Whitesboro, Texas to H. Dee Blanks and wife Ollie Faye Turley. He married Viva Jean Pitts of Chico on May 29, 1954, where the couple lived since 1957.

Chuck was the owner and operator of Blanks Garage in Chico for more than 50 years, until his retirement in 2014. He was an active member in the community, belonging to such organizations as the fire department, Athletic Booster Club, and Lions Club, to name a few.

He was a big sports fan and enjoyed sports of all kinds. And when his children and grandchildren participated in high school sports, Chuck and Viva attended all the games.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Chico, and was a staunch Democrat.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 65 years, Viva Blanks of Chico; sons David Ray Blanks and wife Theresa of Phoenix, Arizona, and Douglas Dee Blanks and wife DeAnn of Richland Hills, Texas; sister Edith Cleek of Hephzibah, Georgia; brother-in-law Floyd Ray Pitts and wife Jan of Irving, Texas; sisters-in-law Betty Thornburg and husband Wayne of Briar, Texas; grandchildren Jed and Michelle Blanks of Santa Fe, Texas, Justin and Tammy Blanks of Dickenson, Texas, Kelcey Blanks of Houston, Texas, Jeremy Blanks of Chico, and Jerod Blanks of College Station, Texas; great-grandson Memphis Blanks; nieces and nephews Michael Mauldin, Patricia Marcus, Mary Long, Christine Peek, and Cathy Cleek, J Jean Bernard, Latauna Burgess, Shelly Alcorn, and Kelly Alcorn; many dear cousins in the Texoma area; and a host of friends in Chico and throughout Texas and Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, H. Dee and Ollie Faye Blanks, son Charles Keith Blanks and wife Linda Anne, and sister Norma Jean Mauldin.
