Charles "Charlie" Barnett

Funeral services for Charles “Charlie” Barnett, 85, of Paradise, Texas, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday July 31, 2025, at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Bridgeport, with burial to follow at Eastside Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Brother Gary Demmitt will officiate.

Pallbearers will include J.C. Williams, Hayden Williams, Bo Williams, Peyton Williams, Oscar Martinez, James Brogan; Honorary Pallbearers will include Boyd Davis, Phillip Strather, and Roger Hodges.

Charles “Charlie” Barnett was born on October 22, 1939, in Paradise, Texas, to Charlie and Myrtle (Cash) Barnett, and went to be with our Lord on July 25, 2025, in Decatur, Texas. He was a well-known figure in Bridgeport, Texas, where he owned and operated Charlie's Transmission for many years. His dedication to his work and his friendly demeanor made him a beloved member of the community.

Charlie enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodworking, spending much of his free time outdoors or in his workshop. In addition, he was also a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, where his faith played a significant role in his life. He cherished the meaningful connections he established within the congregation.

Charlie’s spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

He is preceded in death by his former wife, Patricia (McWilliams) Barnett; parents, Charlie and Myrtle Barnett; sisters Pauline Harris and husband Chuck and Katie Peterson and husband Bobby.

Those left to cherish Charlie’s memory are his wife, Joyce (Wammack) Barnett; sons, Loydd Williams and wife Bridget and Noel Williams and wife Jacque; stepdaughters, Karen Barkley and husband Randy and Susan Brown and husband Rick; grandchildren, J.C. Williams and wife Riley, Hayden Williams and wife Kirsten, Hayley Williams, Bo Williams, Peyton Williams, Holden Williams, Hudson Williams, and Hesson Williams; great-grandchildren, Lawton Williams, Emmitt Williams, Harlan Williams, and Dusti Williams.
