Carl Ray Jones, 82, of Bridgeport, Texas passed away Saturday, October 19, 2013 at home. Funeral services are at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church of Bridgeport. Burial will be at East Bridgeport Cemetery. Brother David Rucker will officiate. Pallbearers are Eric Hartsell, Nathan Robinson, Josh Johnston, Bouie Stewart, Colin Jones, and Grady Cowling. Honorary pallbearers are Royce Raven, Bob Gridley, Craig Barrett, Edgar Judd, and Jerry Haddox. Visitation is from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Monday, October 21, 2013 at Jones Family Funeral Home. Carl Ray was born July 27, 1931, in Bridgeport to Willie (Bill) Lavet (McEntire) and Ernest William Jones. He graduated Bridgeport High School and attended Decatur Baptist College, Texas A&M University, and Texas Tech University. He married Nevesta Grantham in Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1951. He served his country in the U. S. Air Force from 1951-1955 during the Korean Conflict and earned a National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was a technician for Natural Gas Pipeline Company. Carl Ray was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge #587, Scottish Rite, and Shriners International. He was a 32nd Degree Mason. He enjoyed woodworking, farming and ranching, flying, and collecting antique toys and airplanes. Carl Ray is survived by his wife of 62 years; sons S. Mike Jones and Kevin R. Jones, both of Bridgeport; grandchildren Stephanie Hartsell of Bridgeport, Lesley Johnston of Norman, Oklahoma , Hillary Robinson of Granbury, Texas, Emile Stewart of Denton, Texas, Colin Jones of Aledo, Texas, and Bailey Jones of Lubbock, Texas; and great-grandchildren Pryor Robinson and Ande Stewart. He is preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Bridgeport.
