Funeral services for Buddy Jack Chilton, 84, of Bridgeport, Texas, will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport, with burial to follow at Wilson Prairie Cemetery in Paradise. Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Tuesday October 3, at the funeral home. Brother Scott Strother will officiate. Jack passed away September 28, 2023, in Bedford, Texas.

Pallbearers will include Ron Hunn, Jamie Marlett, Tanner Marlett, Trace Marlett, Justin Newsom, and Phil Wolf.

Jack was born June 30, 1939, in Mason, Texas, to George Alexander “Sandy” and Blanche (Winn) Chilton. He had an illustrious life filled with accomplishments and interests that left an indelible mark on those who knew him. Jack dedicated his life to his faith as a devoted member of the Cates Street Church of Christ in Bridgeport since 1968. His unwavering commitment to his church and its values made him a respected figure among fellow parishioners.
Professionally, Jack was a highly skilled machinist and a proud member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union. His dedication to his craft and strong work ethic earned him the admiration and respect of his colleagues throughout his career.

Beyond his professional achievements, Jack had a zest for life that extended into his hobbies and interests. He had an incredible talent for jewelry making, crafting beautiful pieces that showcased his creativity and attention to detail. Jack’s skill with flint knapping was equally impressive, as he transformed rough stones into stunning works of art. When he wasn't engaged in these artistic pursuits, he could often be found delving into the pages of Jack Reacher novels or eagerly watching Texas Ranger's baseball games.

Those left to cherish Jack’s memory are his loving wife of 58 years Goldie Chilton; daughter Angela Lee Chilton and boyfriend Jeff Vassett; brothers Danny Joe and Johnny Chilton; brothers- and sisters-in-law Bill and Isabelle Hunn, Alice Doss, Ann Holt; numerous nieces and nephews; and special family Donna and Richard Stothers.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents; sisters-in-law Doris Chilton, Laura McQuinn, Nell Snow, Joyce Stroud, Jewel Crum; brothers-in-law Ronnie Holt, Bobbie Dee McQuinn, Billy Snow, Richard Stroud, Ed Doss, and Weldon Crum; grandparents Thompson Forrest and Quinnie Ethel Needham Winn, Samuel Porter and Viola (Ola) Thomas Chilton; great-grandparents William Richard and Elizabeth Keith Scruggs Chilton, John Walker and Minerva Elizabeth Anderson Thomas, George Washington and Emily Jane Vineyard Winn, William Brantley and Sallie Jane Culberson Needham.
