Berniece Landers

Funeral services for Berniece Landers, 84, of Bridgeport, Texas, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 8, 2025, at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Bridgeport, with burial to follow at Thomas Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, one hour prior to the service, at the church. Brother Gary Demmitt will officiate.

Pallbearers will include James Culpepper, Matt Remington, Ricky Hatten, Ryan Culpepper, Austin Bell, and Reece Remington.

Berniece (Tims) Landers was born on November 24, 1940, in Bowie, Texas, to Charlie and Addie Mae (Deweber) Tims, and peacefully went to be with our Lord on August 3, 2025, in Bridgeport, Texas.

On July 25, 1959, she embarked on a beautiful journey of love and companionship, marrying Sam Maurice "Reece" Landers in Bowie, Texas. Their union was a testament to enduring love, marked by shared laughter and a profound commitment to one another.

She dedicated many years of her life to working at the Family Clinic in Bridgeport, and later served as the church secretary at Pleasant View Baptist Church, where she touched the lives of many in her community.

Berniece found great joy in a variety of activities that reflected her vibrant personality and love for life. She delighted in crafting, where her creativity shone through handmade projects cherished by friends and family. Traveling was another passion, offering her the opportunity to explore new places and create lasting memories with loved ones. Additionally, she enjoyed visits to the casino, where she reveled in the excitement and camaraderie these outings provided. These interests brought Berniece happiness and enriched her connections with those around her.

Her legacy lives on through the love she shared, the kindness she offered, and the memories created with all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.

Berniece is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Addie Mae Tims; husband of 65 years, Reece Landers; daughter, Karla Hatten; brother, Arnold Tims; and sisters, Loquita Joy and Gaytha Saffold.

Those left to cherish Berniece’s memory are her daughters, Karen Culpepper and husband James and Samantha Remington and husband Matt; grandchildren, Audrea, Ricky, and Rachel Hatten, Austin Bell, Ryan, Katie, and Jordan Culpepper, and Reece and Saige Remington; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.
