Graveside services for Anne Laura Jones, 89, of Runaway Bay, Texas, will be held at 11 am Friday, October 20, 2023, at Eternal Oaks Cemetery, in Runaway Bay. Doctor Shawn Brewer will officiate. Anne passed away peacefully on October 13, 2023, in Decatur, Texas.
Born on October 15, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois, to Ellis Crafton and Clara Mae Pogue, Anne's strong will was evident in all aspects of her life. She was never afraid to speak her mind and stood up for what she believed in. Her professional journey spanned over several decades and left an indelible mark on the organizations she served. For more than 25 years, she dedicated herself to the American Lung Association in Dallas, Texas, working tirelessly to raise awareness and support for lung health. After Anne’s departure from the American Lung Association, she found a new purpose in life as the superintendent's secretary at the Chapel Hill Independent School District in Tyler, Texas. Her unwavering commitment made her an invaluable asset to the school district. Seeking a change of scenery and desiring to be closer to family, Anne relocated to the small community of Runaway Bay, Texas. It was here that she embraced a new chapter in her life, filled with love, joy, and meaningful connections. She passionately pursued various interests and acted out of love of labor for D&H Interest-a family business.
Those left to cherish Anne’s memory are her son Brad Himelick and wife Lynn; daughter Holly Drevecky and husband Dean; sister Judy Campbell; grandchildren Cory Drevecky and wife Katie, Cary Drevecky and wife Julie, Cassidy Drevecky and wife Nicole, Christopher Himelick and wife Nikki and Jennifer Richard and husband Jim; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Anne is preceded in death by her parents Ellis Crafton and Clara Mae Pogue and daughter Shelly Jean Himelick.
